Arrival of Baby Sockeye
Temkwikwexel - Time for the Arrival of Baby Sockeyes
Chris Silver, Semá:th First Nation shares:
“This is an important time; it's when Stó:lò people would go out fishing. It is still cold out, your hands still hurt and your body aches on the river. When the first salmon is caught, they honour it through the First Salmon Ceremony. The ceremony is a celebration between the human and the Salmon People. You would take the bones back to the water to show respect for the salmon to come.”
