Presentation:

Kumak's Fish

Students will listen to a humorous Inuit story, Kumak’s Fish - A Tall Tale from the Far North, written by Michael Bania. This story emphasizes the Inuit virtues of patience, cooperation and sharing. The students will experience the story through kinesthetic and physical movement as the story is told. The presenter will bring Inuit replicas for the presentation. 

The presenter will stay with the class while the students make Inuit snow goggles out of card paper. 

Classroom Preparation: 

  • students sitting in an area where they can be active while listening to the story (carpet area is preferred) 

Students will need: 

  • scissors, felts / pencil crayons / crayons

60 minutes
