Celebrating Indigenous People’s Day

Éy swáyel Members of our Indigenous Community!

First Nations, Metis and Inuit People and all of us in Abbotsford School District, celebrate the beautiful, diverse cultures and languages and the strength, resiliency and achievements of Indigenous People on National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, 2020.

It is also a time of action and acknowledgement.  As a school district we acknowledge that Abbotsford School District is located on the traditional territory of the Stó:lō people, the Semá:th First Nation and Mathexwí First Nation. With this, we respect the longstanding relationships that Indigenous Nations have to this land, as they are the original caretakers.

Abbotsford School District acknowledges historical and ongoing injustices that Indigenous Peoples endure in Canada, and accept responsibility as an educational institution to contribute toward revealing and correcting miseducation as well as renewing respectful relationships with Indigenous communities through teaching and community engagement.

Wishing you a safe summer with joy and time with family to do something you love!
